The Sr Product Management Director is responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. This role also includes ensuring that the product supports the company's overall strategy and goals. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and define product strategies and roadmaps to capitalize on opportunities for growth of existing and new customers Manage product line direction through an on-going assessment of current products, pricing and position Document concept for new products to meet existing or anticipated market needs Develop and review business cases to substantiate new initiatives related to their products Understand market pricing and opportunities/risks to existing and new customers. Developing joint sales plans with the sales force. Visit/talk with customers and prospects and provide call reports for executive management distribution. Participate in strategic meetings with customers and prospects to share in depth product knowledge and develop collaborative strategies Continuously improve process or recommend process improvements. Prioritize fixes and enhancements for the products and coordinating with Technology groups to develop and implement Deliver MRDs and PRDs with prioritized features and corresponding justification Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and vendor opportunities Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples Be an expert with respect to the product, competition and industry Act as a leader within the company Job Requirements: BS Required (Computer Science highly desired) or equivalent work experience MBA preferred 10+ years telecommunications industry experience with an emphasis on Wireless and Virtual Network Enablement 10+ years Product Management and Marketing experience Financial and analytical skills Understanding of product development process Negotiation skills Effective problem solving skills International experience a plus Disclaimer Statement: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job. The Senior Director of Messaging Platform Product Management is a unique product role that is responsible for traditional product planning and execution activities throughout the product lifecycle. The “product” this role manages are the application platforms that support Syniverse’s messaging services. Syniverse is developing a new messaging platform that will be unique in the industry. Additionally, like many other CPaaS and Enterprise Digital Transformation Providers, we’re evolving our internal service platform to a micro-service environment. The nimbleness and flexibility enabled by the combination of orchestration and this new messaging platform and micro-service environment is what will enable Syniverse to create holistic mobile customer engagement solutions for the Global 2000 enterprise market. This transformation is critical to Syniverse’s long term competitiveness. The position requires a singular focus on planning and driving this platform evolution and consolidation within the business to the benefit of the traditional product managers that are managing the customer-facing services these platforms support. As a result, this role is, to a large extent, driving the internal Syniverse digital transformation (in messaging) at the behest of the outward facing product management directors. We’ll also be exploring how we can license and sell our new unique messaging platform and capabilities to other providers as well. Hence, this position will also own external P&L product responsibility for our new messaging platform services suite. The role will still have significant responsibilities to measure and drive improvement in important underlying requirements that will be key to the outward facing services’ success. The role entails working with many different groups within Syniverse. The heads of the Enterprise and Carrier Messaging Solutions businesses are the ultimate owners of the long-term platform roadmap as they own the P&L. These business heads are essentially outsourcing the long-term planning and management of that roadmap to this position. The role is expected to take full ownership, add in their own views and facilitate concurrence on priorities and activities with all associated stakeholders. The role raises key near vs long-term dev trade-offs for the product and development leadership teams to debate & decide. They must co-develop and drive strategy and facilitate business justification of the long-term platform roadmap.
