Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for Senior Data Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Ukraine. Our client is a financial technology and data intelligence platform transforming the way businesses and financial institutions harness transactional data. We are seeking a Data Engineer to deliver Big data Analytics initiatives using Data engineering, Machine learning and AI. As a Data Engineer, you should be an expert with data warehousing technical components (e.g. Data Modeling, ETL and Reporting), infrastructure (e.g. hardware and software) and their integration. You should have a deep understanding of the architecture for enterprise level data warehouse solutions using multiple platforms (RDBMS, Columnar, Cloud). You should be an expert in the design, creation, management, and business use of extremely large datasets. You should have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work closely but remotely with our team and clients. This role will be responsible for working on the design, development and implementation of Data Intelligence solutions and provide insights on the data using Data mining/Machine Learning/AI and visualization tools. You should be enthusiastic about learning new technologies and be able to implement solutions using them to provide new functionality to the users or to scale the existing platform. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field; 5-7 years of SQL development experience; 5-7 years of experience in data modeling, ETL, and Data Warehousing; 3+ years of experience with AWS technologies such as Redshift, RDS, EMR, EKS etc.; Server management and administration including basic scripting; Solid experience in at least one business intelligence reporting tool (e.g., Tableau, Quicksight, Qlikview); An ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is occurring and ambiguity is the norm; SQL performance tuning; Basic DBA tasks; Strong business and team communication skills. Responsibilities: Design, develop, implement and maintain the data management & processing systems for our platform; Introduce new data management tools & technologies into the existing system to make it more efficient; Engage with business teams to understand requirements and translate and envision the data needs into architectural data solutions and implement; Analyze and solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context; Propose ways to improve data quality, reliability & efficiency across the whole system; Support our data science approach, applying techniques or developing custom algorithms as needed by the business problem; Keep up to date with advances in big data technologies and run pilots to design the data architecture to scale with increasing data volume and performance requirements using AWS; Triage many possible courses of action in a high-ambiguity environment, making use of both quantitative analysis and business judgment; Mentor and develop data engineers and other members of the team (e.g., business intelligence engineers, business analysts, scientists) as it expands. Preferred qualifications: 5-7 years of Python scripting (or other platform-agnostic language) and programming experience in building high quality applications, data pipelines and microservices; Comfortable in a Linux environment; Capable of data processing and transference outside of ETL tools or databases (custom scripts to pull and load from APIs or Files); Experience writing software requirements; Understanding of big data solutions (e.g., Hadoop, Fargate/ECS, Kubernetes) and ML/AI frameworks like Tensorflow, Pytorch etc.; Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with ability to balance competing priorities.
