Reporting to the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel, the Executive Advisor is accountable for providing him with strategic advice in the overall management of the human, financial, and material resources of the Legal Sector, which includes the Office of the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel and the Human Resources Directorate, which are two workplace environments required to be and be perceived as politically neutral. The incumbent is also responsible for: Ensuring that Sector programs/services are aligned with Senate priorities and directions; Designing, developing and implementing quality assurance and results-based management processes to provide critical information and advice; Conducting comprehensive analysis of a broad range of files to support informed decision-making and ensure that policy/service issues raised in the context of the Standing Senate Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration (the Internal Economy Committee) reflect a sound evaluation of all options; Liaising with Senate officials, senators, senators’ staff on a broad range of issues. To be successful in this role, you will need to have great planning and organizational skills in addition to being an excellent collaborator. Prerequisites Successful completion of a university education in a field related to the position (Business Administration, Law, Political Sciences, etc.) or have an equivalent combination of education, training and experience; Experience in project management; Significant experience in providing strategic support to senior management; Experience in conducting analysis and providing advice to senior management in the management of human and financial resources; Experience supervising employees to help teams reach their objectives; Knowledge of the principles, methodologies and techniques related to the collection and evaluation of data analysis; Excellent ability to design and write reports and documents; Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including at the executive level; Ability to develop and apply concrete measures in order to put into action various strategies; Ability to anticipate needs and mobilize necessary resources while demonstrating tact and a high level of discretion; Previous experience working within Parliament is considered an strong asset.
