Young People's Supported Accommodation Support Worker OCC20951 Job Details Salary range: £26,999 - £29,636 per annum Work location: Countywide, Oxfordshire Hours per week: 37 - we are open to discussions about flexible working Contract type: Permanent Closing date: 23 February 2020 Interview date: 12 and 13 March 2020 Vetting requirements: This role requires a Criminal Records Check About us Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) is remodelling the services it offers to Young People aged 16-24 years who are or are at risk of becoming homeless. Whilst there are still a number of Young People's Supported Accommodation (YPSA) services which are being commissioned, the services for 16- and 17-year olds will now be delivered in-house by OCC. This service will prepare young people for independence through supporting them to develop skills, access employment, education or training and reconnecting them with family members (where safe). About the role This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the development of this new area of service to deliver a YPSA service which achieves positive outcomes for young people. You will contribute to the development of the new service for young people at risk of homelessness across Oxfordshire. You will be as passionate as we are about working with young people, giving them opportunities and providing them and their families with support and placing the young people at the centre of decision-making. You will be required: To monitor and assess children and young people's needs, including taking appropriate actions to address emerging safeguarding concerns, in line with the organisations safeguarding and need to know polices. To be aware of the mechanisms, within OCC for escalating safeguarding concerns and arrangements for reporting children as missing. To cover for colleagues in all areas across the county as required. To lone work, the role will also require working a rota that includes evenings, weekends and bank Holidays. In addition, staff will be required to sleep in as the need arises. Undertake visits, observations and meetings and record them on electronic systems to the agreed standard and within agreed timescales. To support cases for children and young people in conjunction with social workers and other professionals and lead on behalf of services delivered through the YPSA service. To undertake direct work and interventions with children and young people and support to parents/carers in promoting welfare of their children. To work with allocated cases. Supporting and arranging work that leads to successful transition of children from YPSA services. To work flexibly with other professionals to deliver a 'Team Around the Young Person' approach, in order to secure successful outcomes. To plan and deliver evidence-based interventions delivered in a range of settings (including outreach support) and undertaking risk assessments to ensure safe delivery of intervention. To develop local community knowledge and links to ensure best outcomes for children, young people and their families. To work in an integrated way with other professionals across services, including the co-delivery of services where appropriate. To contribute to statutory processes as required. The service will be part of our existing Residential Edge of Care service which has dedicated teams within it, including a Clinical team, Crisis team, Residential Homes and a centre for outdoor learning. We will provide an extensive training package and reflective practice sessions to support staff to deliver high quality interventions.
