POSITION SUMMARY: NuScale Power offers a paid summer internship program for one first-year or second-year law student. The student will be teamed on a rotating basis with contracts counsel, intellectual property counsel, regulatory counsel, the export controls manager and the general counsel throughout the summer internship. NuScale Power also hosts a variety of summer events, such as training sessions and brown bag lunches, designed to educate interns about NuScale Power’s product and mission. Only one Intern for the 2020 summer internship period will be selected. Interns must commit to working a minimum of 8-10 weeks. Expect that typical assignments may include research and writing projects, participating in internal meetings and conference calls, and document analysis, including assistance with nondisclosure and other agreements. The assignment is based in our south suburban Portland, Oregon office, but the intern will be asked to attend some meetings and intern events in NuScale Power’s Corvallis office and must have transportation to get to these events. MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES: Education/Certification: Currently enrolled in law school and completed at least 1st year of legal program with a GPA in excess of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale required. Experience: Minimum requirements included, demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and preference will be given to candidates who have expressed interest in understanding the legal issues associated with commercial nuclear power. Conflict of Interest: Law student interns cannot work for or be paid by another firm or similar entity during the period of the internship. This is a full-time internship. As a result, written consent from the general counsel is required to participate in any other type of law school or legal clinic, or in any other type of outside employment, during the period of the internship. Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
