About You: You're a creative Mechanical Design Engineer with exceptional design intuition. You're passionate about wearable technologies and want to use your unique skills to shape future generations of our smart glasses and accessory products. You have a strong fundamental engineering background, 3D CAD capability and experience designing and manufacturing consumer products. What You'll Do: In this role, you will work with a talented cross-functional team to translate industrial design into a manufacturable solution that incorporates all product requirements to fulfill use cases and optimize the customer experience. Within 15 days, Fully understand the mechanical architecture from a high level. Properly navigate through the top-level CAD model understanding how it was built and what parameters are critical. Created a preliminary CAD model for external cosmetic components. Within 30 days, Show fully laid out sub-system assembly (including pcb, harness routing, connectors, part and mating part integration). Hold critical design review on external cosmetic component including manufacturing process and CMF specifications. Source applicable vendor and hold DFM. Created all necessary procurement documentation (Drawings, RFQ, Test Specification, CAD, etc.) Within 60 days, Have fully prototyped and tested their design. Have sourced a high volume vendor and incorporated all necessary changes into the design. Created a full test plan wrt form, fit and function as well as reliability and environmental concerns. What You'll Need: You will have 5+ years of experience designing complex consumer products. A high level of experience is required in the following areas: Various manufacturing processes such as casting, metal injection, plastic injection, 2 shot molding and machining. Experience with a variety of finishing techniques such as painting, PVD, anodizing, pad printing, and other decorating techniques. Designing consumer electronics products for volume manufacturing Precision mechanics with tight tolerances, GD&T, and inspection drawings 3D CAD design experience (SolidWorks preferred), with exposure to advanced surface modeling Bonus Points For: Having worked within the wearables industry FEA and Thermal simulation PCB and flex design experience Sealing/waterproofing design experience SolidWorks Feel like you can't tick all the boxes above?
