Puke Ariki has a national reputation for their joint library, museum and research centre situated in New Plymouth. Presently we have exciting opportunity for part time Librarian to join the Inglewood Library and Service Centre team. Our community is at the heart of our library and we are looking for someone who understand how the changes in society, technology, and education impact the work that libraries and community spaces undertake. This position offers a hands-on librarian role within a team of library professionals. As one of the team you will be dynamic in your customer service style and enthusiastic about contributing to the big picture of the library team and service. You will be fluent in technology and have a flexible approach to taking on a variety of operational tasks as required and a can-do attitude. Specific information: The position is for 23 hours per week and includes the provision of library services including readers’ advisory, programming for all ages and collection management; and Council services including rates payments and property enquiries. The library runs a 5 ½ day service and some Saturday work will be required. About you You will have excellent customer service experience and be fluent in the use of technology and digital literacy. Job Description POSITION: Library and Service Centre Customer Support Officer JOB LEVEL: Team Member REPORTS TO: Community Library and Programming Lead GROUP: District Services POSITION PURPOSE: To deliver the programmes and resources of the Community Libraries and Service Centres. KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Integrated - Puke Ariki and Contact Centre staff. External - Other Libraries, professional bodies, iwi, Taranaki citizens and businesses. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Undertake rostered shifts to deliver efficient and effective service of Library and Council Services including APNK, RFID circulation, Readers Advisory, reference and directional assistance, Council service enquiries and transactions.. Proactively assess and prioritise customer needs, responding to their requirements through the provision of professional services at all times. Ensure that customers are assisted to be self-sufficient in their use of the Library’s technology. Provide circulation support functions and ensure the Library and its collections are presented in an attractive and tidy manner. Provide efficient and effective services and programmes such as Housebound, book groups, programme and service coordination. Actively contribute to the ongoing development, revision of library policies and procedures to ensure that they are current and updated as required. Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: Developed annually and form part of performance and team plans. CORE COMPETENCIES: Works collaboratively with others to enhance and/or develop team performance. Takes responsibility and accountability for own actions and day to day decision making. Effective performance and delivery within a political environment. Maintains cultural awareness and keeps up to date with issues affecting the community. Sets high standards of performance for self. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: A relevant Library qualification or working towards one is desirable Experience in public libraries and competency in library systems Able to build and maintain successful relationships with individuals and community groups Proven experience and literacy of a wide range of technology and systems ie internet, digital services and MS products.
