Behaviours: Knowledge of relevant procedures Level of customer Service Team Player Health and safety awareness and knowledge Communication Job Description Gallery Assistant at the Royal Academy of Arts in Green Park, Piccadilly Working shifts - various between 7am & 12pm depending on events Minimum of 24 hours a week paid at £10.90 per hour - working 5 days out of 7, including evenings and weekends, however extra shifts are regularly available to cover events, exhibitions, holiday & sickness SIA licence desirable but not essential This role is a blended approach to customer service based at the Royal Academy of Arts in Green Park, Piccadilly. The site hosts regular art exhibitions in its building and the team on site support with Security for the works in the exhibits alongside a customer service approach to information on site. Role description and duties; Assist visitors to the Royal Academy and create a positive visitor experience by providing excellent 5 * Star service to visiting guests including Friends of the RA, public guests, visiting artists, students and any other visitors to the site Display positive and enthusiastic behaviour in the work-place Consistently deliver excellent customer service Strive to understand different customers’ needs and perspectives Ensuring exhibition processes are followed in regards to interaction with the art works, photography, and numbers in a given room at any time Provide information to visitors regarding the individual galleries, having full knowledge of which exhibition they are working in, including knowledge of the art works on display and knowledge of the artist themselves and ensuring proactivity in dealing with responses to members of the public and guests Identify and address any complaints or problems when they arise, dealing with any issues in a professional manner, and if needed escalate any incidents to the Site Manager and Client Handover to oncoming assistants Support the incident management process as per the Assignment Instructions and or Standard Operating Procedures Support the inhouse security team as required Full knowledge of the building so that guest enquiries can be dealt with in a professional and knowledgeable manner Knowledge and understanding of the Friends of the RA scheme Liaise closely with the management team to ensure that they are aware of the changing requirements of the contract Think ahead to prevent problems and difficulties arising Make independent and objective decisions, based on all available facts and information Remain calm when under pressure and dealing with multiple tasks Ensure that priorities are regularly reviewed and remain in line with the task at hand Respond and manage security and emergency incidents in line with site processes Qualifications Excellent customer service delivery with fantastic people services Knowledge of and ability to use security based computer systems Proficient in written and oral communication skills Confident in IT systems including Microsoft Office Ability to influence, motivate and liaise with others Demonstrate a disciplined and professional attitude Ability to work within established procedures and to contribute positively to any improvements Ability to listen and demonstrate creative thinking skills Ability to deal with and control an emergency situation Demonstrate understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act, relevant Criminal, Civil Law and Police and Criminal Evidence Act Customer service orientated SIA licence desirable but not essential Additional Information It’s the little things that count - On top of the usual rewards you'd expect to see from a large company, such as - holidays, pension, childcare vouchers, enhanced maternity scheme and cycle to work schemes, we also provide many extra benefits to enhance our people's well-being and enjoyment at work.
