Opportunity Career Development and Experiential Learning (CDEL) provides education, information, and support in various formats for MacEwan University, students, faculty and staff, employers, community partners, and alumni in the context of student career development. The role would be approximately 15 hours per week, and we are flexible around your class schedule. This role would continue into the summer of 2020 as a full-time student worker position. You will join a professional, positive team and will receive valuable training on advising skills, resume and cover letter writing, and interview preparation, which will help you in your future career. Additionally, you will gain experience with resource development, and participate in event planning and marketing to meet business objectives. Position Requirements Facilitate one-on-one meetings with students to provide feedback on resumes and cover letters. Conduct mock interviews and provide feedback to help students improve their interview skills. Assist full-time CDEL staff with special projects and initiatives, such as developing informational resources for key stakeholders. Assist with event planning and marketing-related activities. Maintain records of appointments on database and provide administrative support. Deliver presentations for classes or student groups on resume writing, interview preparation and other career related topics. Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A willingness to learn and engage in creative thinking and problem solving. A strong interest in helping fellow students. A positive attitude and the ability to communicate and work well with team members. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage time efficiently and deal with multiple tasks at once. Capable of adapting to new situations and being flexible with change. A strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to work well independently. Ability to exercise good judgment and tact in dealing with people and situations.
