The Underground Services Division provides engineering services for the management of Saanich’s sanitary sewer, water and storm drainage systems including infrastructure planning and capacity analysis, capital replacement design and construction and operational technical support. The successful candidate will work in a technical team to deliver water resource-based capital assignments. The work of the Engineering Technician IV involves field and office assignments including project management; liaising with the public or consultants; reviewing engineering design drawings for conformance to Saanich specifications and operational requirements; recommending design revisions for Engineer’s consideration; project budget accountability; conducting construction inspection/reporting and contract administration. Experience working on water resources retrofit projects would be an asset. The successful candidate will possess strong project management skills, is well organized, and has strong communication skills. Requirements include a two year diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution; a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience; eligibility for membership in Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC); a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License; a personal vehicle available for use as and when required, and conversant with computer based engineering applications including AutoCAD. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, such as a university degree in a relevant field of engineering with a minimum of 3 years work experience. The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $41.35 per hour and an excellent benefits package.
