Description British Antarctic Survey is offering a unique opportunity as a Front-of-House and Administrator for the Aurora Innovation Centre in Cambridge. What is about? The Centre nurtures and enables cross-disciplinary research to tackle environmental challenges and increase real-world benefit of polar research. There are three main areas of activity within Aurora: the Aurora Innovation Centre as a venue for events, conferences, meetings and seminars; the Aurora Collaboration space, where member companies share office space; and lastly, the interaction between these and the wider organisation. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and curious Front of House to join our team, supporting internal- and external-facing activities. Who we are? Purpose To ensure that important external and internal events held within the British Antarctic Survey’s AURORA conference facility are managed successfully. To provide a professional, efficient and welcoming ‘front of house’ service to delegates and staff alike. To be the point of contact for, and provide support to, teams within BAS who lead on event management, and to provide admin support for AURORA activities. Qualification Relevant Customer Service experience and attitude given priority over formal qualifications. Duties Ensure the best possible experience for delegates by co-ordinating with others to ensure that the venue is presentable at all times Coordinate with other BAS functions for tasks such as furniture swaps, cleaning and clearing away Work closely with and support catering contractor and other suppliers to ensure orderly delivery and top level customer service Provide AV support for the centre, and setting up for customers Assist and inform reception of visitors –create name badges when necessary Monitor and report faults to Catering, Estates and IT Calendar management for meeting room booking for Aurora members, external and (where appropriate) internal events Issue quotes, invoices for bookings and AURORA membership; track finances Support Aurora members and keep the Collaboration Space in order Order materials (stationery etc) for AURORA Parcel & post pick-up for AURORA members Provide Estates team with reception sickness cover when needed/possible Updating of the “What’s on” screens Any other duties compatible with pay band as instructed by BAS Director Please quote reference: BAS 20/34 Closing date for receipt of application forms is: 16th February 2020 Interviews are scheduled to be held: 27th February 2020 BAS is an Equal Opportunity employer.
