BAND 6/7 Dependent on Experience Welcome to Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. In 2015 we opened a state-of-the-art hospital alongside a brand-new research, innovation and education centre. Alder Hey in the Park and the Institute in the Park bring together excellent care, technology and design to provide the best possible healing environment for children and their families. Alder Hey Children’s Hospital cares for over 330,000 children, young people and their families every year. As one of Europe’s biggest and busiest children’s hospitals, we treat everything from common illnesses to highly complex and specialist conditions. We are recognised as a Centre of Excellence for children with cancer, cardiac, spinal and brain disease. We have been designated by the Department of Health as a national centre for craniofacial surgery and epilepsy surgery. Alder Hey is also a designated Paediatric major trauma unit. The Finance Department is recognised nationally for its success in developing its staff, recently becoming only the twelfth trust to earn the highest level of Finance Staff Development/Future Focused Finance accreditation. We have also won five national HFMA awards since 2012. These accolades have been achieved by creative use of financial and clinical information, working closely with clinical divisions and the Trust’s unique Innovation Hub. Staff at all levels are encouraged and empowered to learn, get involved and achieve. The Service Improvement & Costing team is at the forefront of the development of costing in England and locally. We lead the Mersey/Cheshire/Lancs Costing Group and the HFMA’s national Specialist Costing Group, have won NHS Improvement and HFMA awards, and are often asked to speak at conferences to share our innovative successes in improving patient care and Trust finances. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative, high achieving, happy environment and learn from some of the best in their field. This is a place to improve your skills, enhance your reputation, and help push the boundaries of best practice. The Service Improvement & Costing team includes skills ranging from comprehensive IT literacy to data analysis/presentation and working with clinicians and managers. The role will be tailored to the person, who will be able to focus on their core strengths, while enjoying the opportunity to improve in other areas. It will be an excellent next career step. The successful candidate will be CCAB/equivalent qualified or part qualified, with strong IT and analytical skills, supported by attention to detail. For an informal discussion please contact Jason Dean, Service Improvement & Costing Accountant on 0151-252-5811.
