The Netherlands is a growth market for Air Liquide Large Industries. In addition to the head office in Rotterdam, it has state-of-the-art plants in a number of locations, including a combined heat and power plant at Rotterdam Pernis. This CHP-plant was built in 2008 and produces 300 MW electricity and up to 700 tph of steam. Its main focus is highly reliable and efficient production. Taken en Verantwoordelijkheden What does a Production Engineer do? As Production Engineer you are part of the Operations team to ensure reliable operations of the Pernis plant. You are in daily and direct contact with operators and you report to the Production Manager. You support the operations team in both short term matters (trips/problems/questions) as well as in long term matters (planning/incident research/MOC’s/stop coordination). You replace the Production Manager when he/she is on leave or absent and after an internal qualification process you become part of the management call-out system. Your main responsibilities are: Daily plant follow-up on quality and performance Hands-on support in case of process disturbances Develop and implement best-practices for the operations organization Develop and organize training of operators Execute/manage long term improvement projects (MOC’s) Investigation and follow up of incidents Customer contact for operational issues Reporting to headquarters Competenties en Profiel What is your background? A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is preferred: what really counts is your ability and willingness to continuously develop yourself! Knowledge of cogeneration technology is a plus Knowledge of controlling equipment (via control panel, or to the equipment itself) Experience in operations is preferred Job skills and competencesAs a production engineer, you need a broad set of skills to be able to achieve short and long term goals. Because of the strong and daily interaction with operators, it is important to level with the operations team, but a the same time maintain focus on long-term goals such as MOC’s and improvement projects. Teamplayer: You must be able to work together and find the best solution together with the team. “Hands - on mentality”: You should be able to find solutions on your own; a proactive and pragmatic mindset is a must. Communication Skills: You are an excellent communicator, which helps you to build fruitful relationships both on site as well as with customers and suppliers. Learning agility: You get the best out of situations by learning on the job and from peers. You are willing to continuously develop your skills and knowledge. As safety is of the highest importance in this industry, you will learn to drive the safety and reliability culture, and lead by example. As the right hand of the Production Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to take responsibility in a team of 19 operators. You’ll learn to set the right priorities for Pergen and its customers, and to ensure proper communication on all relevant levels. As part of the Management call-out and as replacement of the Production Manager, you will learn to take decisions on operational and managerial level. Furthermore you will learn how to manage internal projects by applying the management of change process for the site.
