Our client is currently expanding, so they are seeking an experienced engineering manager to join their team of 12 existing managers. A strong engineering knowledge of marine diesel engines, marine generators and yacht and power boat mechanical systems will be necessary, plus wide experience of sailing yachts and motor yachts up to 80 feet. The successful candidate will be organised, presentable and outgoing, with experience of dealing with wealthy yacht owners. The position offers a good annual salary, a bonus dependent on personal performance, plus a notional dividend based on the performance of the company. Reports to Directors Duties and Responsibilities Following up enquiries from customers Pursuing sales leads Fault finding and defect reports Annual maintenance for yacht owners Selling and managing § new engine installations § new genset installations § new mechanical systems installations § new gearbox, coupling, shaft and prop installations § cutlass bearing changes Liaising with manufacturers regarding specifications Viewing boats to draw up technical specification Costing labour and materials Quoting customers Following up customers after quoting Obtaining signed orders & deposit payments Scheduling work Managing labour, materials & sub-contractors Technical support of skilled labour Training and support of apprentices Sea trials and setting to work Familiarisation of new equipment with owner Invoicing & the collection of payment Continuing service and maintenance This is a family business, and they have no bank debt whilst investing continuously into their plant, machinery & infrastructure from their retained profits, not by borrowing. The company own their 10 acre site and 8 acres of the river.
