Our company began in 1971 with the vision of a church pastor and his congregation whose goal was to create an environment that offered seniors a rewarding lifestyle and high quality healthcare if ever needed. Today, Acts is the largest not-for-profit owner, operator and developer of continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) in the United States. Our 26 communities currently serve more than 10,000 residents in nine states. Rose has been serving our residents for 5 years. "I love taking care of the residents. We are basically a big family. The staff put their souls into doing their jobs. We create such a wonderful bond between residents and staff." Acts Retirement Spotlight: Chadwick Whitehead, Business Services Specialist, Lanier Village Estates Meet Chad, a Business Services Specialist at Lanier Village Estates in Gainesville, Georgia. Chad has been with Acts for 11 years, starting as a Dining Room Server. Acts Retirement Spotlight: Louis Senat, Life Engagement Coordinator, Normandy Farms Estates Meet Louis, one of our many valued team members at Normandy Farms Estates in Blue Bell, PA. Louis joined Acts nearly 10 years ago, working multiple staff positions within our Culinary Department before taking on the important role of Life Engagement Coordinator, where he plans, organizes and oversees many of the day-to-day activities, events and outings that our residents have come to love. Acts Retirement Spotlight: Diane Talamo, Registered Nurse, Brittany Pointe Estates Meet Diane, a registered nurse at Brittany Pointe Estates in Lansdale, PA. Diane has worked for Acts since 2002. "It's an honor and a privilege to be here and to care for these residents. We have a great team of people who are professional, skilled and compassionate. We work together to improve the lives of our residents. I love the lasting bonds and relationships you develop with the residents and their families. It makes you want to come to work each day." Acts Retirement Spotlight: Alma Gomez, Housekeeping, Southampton Estates Meet Alma, a star team member at Southampton Estates, in Southampton, PA, who was honored as Employee of the Month in November 2019. "I am so happy here. The Employee of the Month honor was a great surprise. I like working different jobs. I love helping the residents. I love the residents. I love talking to them and making them happy." Acts Retirement Spotlight: Michelle Rhoades, Chef Manager, Heron Point of Chestertown Meet Michelle. She's worked at Heron Point of Chestertown in Chestertown, Maryland, for 25 years. "I started in 1994 as a dishwasher and within nine months moved up to prep cook." Acts Retirement Spotlight: Sam Maisano, Skilled Mechanic, Country House Meet Sam, a Skilled Mechanic in the Maintenance Department at Country House in Wilmington, Delaware. Sam started as a server at Country House as a teenager, some 25 years ago. In that time he’s pitched in wherever needed, from washing dishes and working in our health centers. “I’ve always felt comfortable here, and as I’ve gotten older and started my own family, this place has been flexible to my personal needs.” Sam even met his wife at Country House! Acts Retirement Spotlight: L'Shunda Matthews, Senior Life Care Consultant, Westminster Village Meet L’Shunda, a Senior Life Care Consultant at Westminster Village in Spanish Fort, Alabama. “I was looking for more growth and opportunity which lead me to Acts! Throughout the entire interview process, I was exceedingly impressed by the culture. I saw how welcoming and kind people were to have me as a member of the Acts family from the CEO to our regional sales director. The level of respect in communicating to one another, just the small things that get lost in big corporations, were being used here and I could see how those small acts eventually produced great results within the company. I also noticed the genuine care and love Acts and its employees exercised with residents and how it’s reciprocated. I didn’t fully understand what I was witnessing until my official orientation, where I was provided full details of the Acts mission statement. I was so elated to have already witnessed Acts Loving-Kindness. It was overwhelming. I am blessed to work with a company that fulfills the very thing they were expecting for me.
