We are looking for The Professional Associate (“PA”) candidates to join our Financial Lines Claims department. The PA will be mentored and receive formal and informal technical training which will develop the necessary skills to manage a variety of claims. Through this program, the PA will eventually become responsible for handling various types of Financial Lines claims, with an emphasis on Employment Practices Liability, Commercial Crime (Fidelity), Directors & Officers Liability, Cyber and Professional Liability claims. This includes determining insurance coverage and drafting reservation of rights and denial letters, attendance at mediation/settlement conferences, managing external counsel and litigation, and negotiating settlement of claims. The PA will also be responsible for providing support and assistance to senior analysts in the handling of complex claims. Preferred: AIG seeks candidates who have excelled in previous work experience, demonstrated outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement, possess strong analytical, quantitative and interpersonal skills, and are enthusiastic about and committed to the insurance industry. Key Responsibilities Review submitted claims and determine coverage based on policy wordings Draft reservation of rights and/or denial letters, and communicate coverage positions to key stakeholders (brokers, clients, underwriters) Manage litigation, including driving cases to appropriate resolution, managing defence costs, and ensuring external counsel compliance with litigation guidelines Determine overall exposure for claims and set appropriate reserves in a timely fashion Participate in mediations/ADR of claims, and negotiate settlements within authority Ensure timely payments of defence costs and indemnity to insureds and counsel Work within AIG best practices and claims handling guidelines, including maintaining compliant claim files (notes, document management, reserves, payments, etc.) Communicate internally and externally regarding claim status, developments, coverage issues, etc. in a clear and professional manner, including escalating complaints, large losses, etc. as appropriate Position Requirements Ability to work independently, and also cooperatively as part of the Financial Lines team Strong analytical skills, including contract interpretation Excellent time management skills, and ability to multi-task and prioritize workload Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficient computer skills in a busy paperless environment AIG Employer Spotlight Did you know, AIG Canada is the proud recipient of the Top Employers for Young People award in 2019, and recently named Top GTA Employer for 2020.
